Read two Books this weekend

Yup its official I am a Dork. I got myself a library card from the Bibliotheque Nationale (provincial library) and I am a as pleased as punch. I borrowed two books and three CDs on Saturday, I ripped my way through both books and have enjoyed the CDs.

Book summaries:

DUNE: BATTLE OF CORRIN- Seemed flat in some places, a lot of really neat stuff happened in this book I think they might have rushed it a bit. Still enjoyed it because I wanted to know how things ended/began in the Dune series.
p.s. the humans win

The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz- Duddy is really a bastard. (But still a good read)

Bizarre Weekend.

I had a very strange weekend. I just became a hyper klutz for 48 hours. I woke on Saturday morning to the sound of rain, which is really strange for a day in January anywhere in Canada except maybe BC. So I go to make my breakfast and, I decide to check the thermometer first. It is right outside the kitchen door. I step out and take a quick look and get locked out for 15 minutes until I am able to get my neigbour's attention by pelting his window with a couple of snowballs. I get let in, warm up, have breakfast and go about my Saturday. I end up losing a glove on the metro (subway). Taking all things in stride I didn't let it get me down.

Then Sunday rolled around. Nothing humourous occurred before breakfast. But about ten minutes before I am about to leave for church, my glasses slip a lens pops out as they hit the floor and the screw (that holds the lens in place in the frame) goes flying. I remember there being a frantic search for the tiny piece of hardware which lasted about 5 of my remaining 10 minutes (which concluded in success). A period of indecision, which led me to conclude that I would need to conduct my business for the day in a near sighted way if I was going to be on time. I managed to squint my way through church and replacing my gloves, nearly missing my bus stops because I really need glasses. However once I return to my abode I am able to return my lens to its rightful place. I spend the rest of the evening relaxing, cooking supper and doing my laundry.

Imagine if you will it is now ridiculously early on Monday morning. About 5 minutes before I catch a bus to work. I appear to be missing a buss pass. Knowing it has been one of those weekends I get the pair of pants that I laundered last night after wearing them about the town the last time I had my pass. Did you know that card used for that particular pass completely disintegrates after going through the wash?

Now here is the punch line. That was the second one I had to buy this month because I lost my fist one a week earlier.

Wooden Headed Idiot.

I learned today that a mother of friend from my work placement last term died over the holidays. I want to send an e-mail sending my condolences. But I have no idea what say or do, everything I think of seems to be pointless or just incredibly stupid.

Further Signs you Have No Social Life.

You actually note that the priest next door gets in later than you do on a Saturday night.

Signs that you have no social life.

The priest that lives next door is out later than you are on a Saturday night.

White Whale.

It was a nice dream. I spent a good portion of my day yesterday trying to win tickets to the Rolling Stones Concert that is happening tonight. There were 4 chances to win from a local radio station. All I can say it was rough. Didn't even get through on the phone line.

Cool Head of Hair

I decided to get my hair cut. New year new style if you will. Let me just tell you that my hair is very short, almost not there. If you feel so inclined I can describe the thought process some other time.

Johnny Come Lately

Greetings,

This is the first post of my new blog. Several of my good friends already have blogs, and I read them regularly. It is how I keep up to date with what they do and how they are. I figured I would set up my own blog for similar purposes. Fair is fair and now if they can find this page they can find out what I am thinking about and invade my personal thoughts or what pass for personal thoughts on a completely public forum.

Cheers.
